What Highly Successful Account Managers Do Every Day

If you're new here, welcome! 👋 At DOT & Company, we are subject matter experts in Client Account Management (CAM) for digital marketing agencies. Want to know how our CAMs thrive in the role? We have a couple of key tips that set our days up for success.

In this episode of The Happy Clients Podcast, we cover the 5 KEY STEPS our Account Managers incorporate into their practice:

1) Plan your day

Every. Morning.

At DOT, our Account Managers work across multiple agencies. This means we have to be hyper-organized at all times, pulsing between clients and agency needs across our various assignments. Our biggest tip? Become best friends with your project management software. This helps to task everything out for all of your client needs and see everything that needs to get tackled.

2) Reach Inbox Zero - don't know what that is? Listen in to learn all about it!

Once you've planned your day, immediately start looking through all of your emails. Things can change overnight and it's important to try and have everything visible in front of you so you can respond accordingly and hit Inbox Zero (clear your emails for the day!). This is truly the best feeling— and while it may not happen every day, it's imperative we at least acknowledge the key pressing tasks and prioritize accordingly.

3) Project Management

A big part of keeping clients happy is ensuring the team is accountable, too! If you know you're waiting on creative, copy, or a media buyer to get back to the client, you have to make sure you're sending nudges to the team internally. Sometimes, you even have to remind the agency owner of what's pressing/held up. All in the name of not letting anything fall through the cracks!

4) Celebrate wins for the team

Who doesn't love starting their day with some quick wins. Whether it's a campaign that's well performing, or a massive overall team win, CELEBRATE 'EM. Positive vibes internally translate to happy clients externally and vice versa. Bring on all the W's.

5) Transparent communication

If something's not going according to plan, be open about it. Be proactive. Don't let things sit until the client comes back to you - implement daily pulses and routine updates with the agency internally to ensure everyone is on the same page. Transparency is key 🔑
